Five Steps to Start Playing
Souls SMP is application-only. Apply first; you can install the modpack while you wait to hear back.

Fill In the Application
Tell us a bit about yourself in the application form. Staff Members read every application. A spot isn't guaranteed, but if you seem like a good fit for the server, you'll be accepted.

Get Whitelisted
Join our Discord and post your Minecraft Username in the Whitelist channel. Staff Members will review your application and react to your message with an emoji according to whether your application has been accepted or declined.

Join the Server
Read the server rules, then launch the instance, go to Multiplayer → Add Server and paste the address:

Staff Members might not have gotten to your application yet. Please be patient!
Unable to join?
Make sure that you have the Latest Version of the 'Souls: Survival' Modpack on Modrinth.
Every Life Counts
There are a few ways to get new lives. Some of them are difficult, and some are sinister.
Limited Lives
Dying costs you a life. Eliminating another player earns one back.
Ghost Mode
Out of lives? You become a ghost. Turn invisible, possess mobs and leave messages for the living.
The Soul Altar
Craft artificial lives, revive fallen players, bind souls and infuse them with new powers.
Soul Binding
Bind your soul to an ally to share lives, then infuse it with rare items like dragon eggs and warden hearts.
Which Soul Are You?
You get a random Basic Soul the first time you join.
Unique Souls can only be earned through gameplay.

Make big decisions the way your soul would. Be creative, but it has to make sense.
Love
A Love player won't go on a random killing spree or grief without a reason. Self-defence is fine, and so is shutting down a threat out of love for an ally.
Patience
Not boring at all. You could wait for the perfect moment to steal the Dragon Egg, or let events unfold and rise as the hero who earns the Vigil soul.
Corrupted
If a Corrupted player eliminates you and you become Corrupted, you act only under their command.

Questions
How can I guarantee my spot in the server?
You can't. There's no way to guarantee a spot, and spots can't be bought or reserved. Staff Members read every application and accept players who seem like a good fit for the server and its role-play style. The best thing you can do is fill in the application honestly and show what kind of player you are.
How do I get whitelisted?
First fill in the application form, then post your Minecraft Username in the Whitelist channel on Discord. Staff Members will review your application and react to your message with an emoji according to whether your application has been accepted or declined.
What are the Rules?
All server rules are listed on the Rules page. Please read them carefully before you join. They apply to everyone, with no exceptions.
Can I join with vanilla Minecraft?
No. You need the Souls: Survival modpack. Follow the steps above; it only takes a few minutes.
Does it work on Bedrock / Console?
No, it's Minecraft: Java Edition only.
What happens when I lose all my lives?
You become a ghost. Ghosts can still explore, possess mobs and leave messages. Another player can bring you back at a Soul Altar.
Can I add my own mods?
Cosmetic and quality-of-life mods are fine, but cheats like X-ray, Fullbright and Freecam aren't. See the Client-Side Mods rule, or ask Staff Members if you're unsure.
I don't like my soul. Can I change it?
Only in rare cases where someone truly can't play their role, and only in the first few days after launch. See Changing Your Soul.
Who runs the server?
The server is hosted locally and maintained by the Fableworks Staff Members.
